Gloucester Yacht Club is an approved RYA Training Centre. We aim to provide courses of interest and help to our members, however members of the RYA, RYA affiliated clubs and general boaters will be welcome to any courses held.

RYA VHF/DSC Short Range Certificate Radio Course

The first course was extremely well received with all 6 students passing.
COURSES RUN ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS.
The 1 day course and assessment is conducted using VHF radios and DSC receivers with hands on experience and group interaction for a more realistic feel. Conducted in small groups, no more than six on each course.
Courses will be held at Gloucester Yacht Club
9.00 till 5.00 cost to members will be £50.00 (GYC, RYA and RYA affiliated
clubs) Non-Members £70.00 plus, on successful completion, you will also need to
pay the RYA £30 license application fee and supply a recent passport style
photograph.
Students
need to become familiar with the phonetic alphabet beforehand.

RYA Marine First Aid Course
To Be Arranged
You are half way between bridges on the canal and have stopped for the night, it is cold. A crew member has fallen off of the boat, banging their head and nearly drowns. There is no vehicle access, you cannot get a mobile signal and there is nobody around to help. Would you know what to do?
Do this course and you can save a life. Learn about artificial ventilation & chest compression (CPR), the recovery position, shock, control bleeding, wounds, seasickness, hypothermia, drowning, concussion, compression, asthma attacks, burns, diabetic emergencies, epilepsy and heart attacks, spinal injuries, fractures, helicopter evacuation.
One day course only 4 places on each course.
