Tall Ships FestivalWhat a weekend! Frantically busy for all who were working tirelessly to make it a success, and a success it was. A record amount of around £2000 taken over the weekend, this will set us up for the Winter and really make our finances look rosy (more details will follow from Gareth, our Treasurer, about actual profit made over the weekend, so keep checking the web site). Incidentally last year £618 was taken for the whole month of August and we exceeded that on Saturday alone!
A huge thank you to everyone concerned, in particular Maggie Ellis (Bruin) who organised our activities. We shall not thank everyone individually for fear of leaving someone out, but you know who you are and the weekend's activities would not have been such a success without you.
A fantastic table football has been donated to the Club by 'Blakey' (Stephen Blakemore). It is a great addition to the Club and the Committee would like to thank Blakey for this generous donation.
Do call into the Club to try out our latest addition.
Welcome
to New Committee Member
The Committee would like to formally welcome Terry Walker onto the Committee. Terry and his wife Bobby are relatively new members, but have been very active in helping the Club in recent events. Terry is a fantastic cake maker and his carrot cakes were the highlight of the last barbeque and really appreciated at the Tall Ships GYC Cafe, disappearing in record time! You will see them flying the Club burgee up and down the canal during weekends on their cruiser Carli, do give a wave. |
Apology The current committee felt it right to publish the minutes of past committee meetings for members to read. However we have had queries regarding an issue which happened some years ago concerning a missing amount of money. A full investigation took place by outside authorities and those involved were completely cleared of any wrongdoing. On behalf of the Club, the Committee would like to unreservedly apologise to Derek and Sue Starkey and Laura Morris for the allegations and embarrassment caused. |
ANNOUNCEMENT
Following an examination of such club records as were available followed by a number of complaints, for the good of the Club the committee have investigated and taken the action to expel Helen Cook and Peter Metcalf from the Club.
Letters / e-mails have been sent to all members explaining what has happened and inviting any questions to be directed to the Committee.
A copy of that letter can be accessed here.
